The viral White House petition to name Antifa a terrorist organization has reached 300,413 signatures as of this article’s publication,
The petition was started shortly after President Trump named Antifa during his Phoenix rally, as Department of Memes covered extensively. The petition has gained over 130,000 signatures since Department of Memes last covered it a week ago.
As we wrote in our earlier article:
|”Antifa has been having a rough time of it lately. A guy drove through them at the Unite The Right Rally in Charlottesville, President Donald Trump called them out as an equal instigator of violence, and now a new petition on whitehouse.gov seeks to label them a terrorist organization.
It’s about time, frankly. New Jersey’s Department of Homeland Security has already declared Antifa a domestic terrorist organization, and there are ongoing efforts in other states.
The White House petition aims to get that label confirmed on the federal level in all fifty states, so that communicates can organize more effectively against their violent tactics.”
“Terrorism is defined as ‘the use of violence and intimidation in pursuit of political aims”)’. This definition is the same definition used to declare ISIS and other groups, as terrorist organizations. AntiFa has earned this title due to its violent actions in multiple cities and their influence in the killings of multiple police officers throughout the United States. It is time for the pentagon to be consistent in its actions – and just as they rightfully declared ISIS a terror group, they must declare AntiFa a terror group – on the grounds of principle, integrity, morality, and safety.”
As per a policy implemented during the Obama administration, petitions must gain over 100,000 signatures to receive official acknowledgement from the White House. This may be in the form of a written statement, a statement made on behalf of the president, or rarely, the president will respond to the petition directly.
This petition’s massive number of signatures would suggest Americans are sick of Antifa and the Alt-Left having free reign to destroy this country, and believe that President Trump taking action against the group is necessary.
Should the petition receive a positive response from the Trump administration, it would appear the inevitable defeat of the radical leftists in Antifa may come sooner than expected.
