As Colin Kaepernick’s national anthem protest continues to grow and receive support from prominent athletes, the all female Legends Football League released a video saying its players will proudly stand for the national anthem.
In their short video, the narration explains that the national anthem “symbolizes all the blood, sweat, and tears that have been shed” to give Americans the freedom they enjoy today, and that the league “stand in salute of our flag.”
The all-woman league, previously called the Lingerie Football League, recently rebranded itself as the Legends Football League.
In the description of their video, LFL stresses the importance of standing for the anthem.
The LFL recognizes everyone’s First Amendment right to protest, but our nation’s flag and anthem are far too sacred. Too many fellow Americans have made the ultimate sacrifice, so that our flag and anthem continue in all its majesty.
The LFL previewed their decision on Instagram before releasing their video.
Free Beacon reports that the current Legends Cup Champions are the Seattle Mist, “which defeated the Atlanta Steam 38 to 28 in the finals.”
The Mist went the entire season undefeated.
