President Donald Trump held a rally Friday night in Alabama to campaign for Senator Luther Strange, and he captivated the wall-to-wall crowd with a savage putdown of the NFL players kneeling for the national anthem.
While talking about the deep respect that he and Senator Strange have for American values, President Trump highlighted the respect he has for the flag and national anthem, saying, “Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrepects our flag, to say ‘get that son of a bitch off the field right now, out! [You’re] fired.'”
He then accentuated the statement and performed his trademark hand gesture from The Apprentice, bellowing “FIRED!” to massive, raucous applause and chants of “USA! USA! USA!” (The latter of which brought a beaming patriotic smile to his face.)
The President went on to state that kneeling for the anthem “is a total disrespect to our heritage, a total disrespect to everything that we stand for, okay?” before pointing out that the NFL ratings are down “massively.”
“Now the number reason for that happens to be that they like watching, y’know, what’s happening with yours truly,” he joked, gesturing to himself. “They” (the American people) “are very happy with what’s going on.”
It was the perfect highlight to a hugely successful speech which came after news of China freezing their banking assets in North Korea, the stock market reaching record new heights, and other various successes for the Trump administration.
It’s refreshing to have a President who’s willing to call out the social justice bullshit in popular culture, and doesn’t care whose feelings he hurts by telling the truth.
