Missouri Governor Eric Greitens warned protesters in St. Louis that the trend of treating rioters with kid gloves as seen in other cities would not continue in his state, stating “these aren’t protesters, these are criminals” in a Saturday night Facebook post.
“They thought they’d get away with it. They were wrong.”
Governor Greitens, a Republican, posted a video of rioters being arrested and dragged off like the scum they are by the men and women of law enforcement, along with an accompanying statement:
“Saturday night, some criminals decided to pick up rocks and break windows. They thought they’d get away with it. They were wrong. Our officers caught ‘em, cuffed ‘em, and threw ‘em in jail.
In the past, our leaders let people break windows, loot, start fires. They let them do it. Not this time. Tonight, the police arrested the vandals. At this moment, they’re all sitting in a jail cell. They’re gonna wake up and face felony charges.
These aren’t protestors [sic], these are criminals.
Criminals, listen up: you break a window, you’re going to be behind bars. It’s that simple.”
The rioters in question are organizing out of anger at a judge’s verdict which found no evidence to charge former police officer Jason Stockley in the shooting death of Anthony Lamar Smith. There have multiple incidents of violence during the so-called protests, including rocks thrown at the police and the mayor’s house as well as the ubiquitous burning of the American flag.
However, unlike previous incidents where local and state officials let cowardly thugs roam the streets following justified police shootings, Greitens and the Missouri and St. Louis police departments have no intention of letting their public spaces be turned into hellholes of lawlessness in the name of political correctness.
Greitens has also told Fox News “the only safe space for looters is a jail cell,” and “if you’re going to riot we’re going to cuff you. Violence and vandalism is not protest. It is a crime.” He certainly seems like the right man for the job in times like these.
