According to new confirmed reports, Arizona Senator John McCain, a vociferous opponent to President Donald Trump, has been diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor.
McCain underwent emergency surgery to have a malignant tumor removed earlier today, and the senator appears to be recovering from surgery well.
The Republican Senator, infamous for his controversial military service and failed presidential bids in 2000 and 2008, is 80 years of age. McCain has been in congress for 34 years.
The senator showed no neurological problems before or after the operation, said his doctors. Though not identified by name, at McCain’s request, his doctors were given permission speak with Gupta, who is also a practicing neurosurgeon.
McCain is now recovering at his Arizona home. He and his family are considering treatment options, which will likely include radiation and chemotherapy, his doctors said.
McCain famously insulted Trump supporters in 2015, leading Trump to insult McCain’s military record.
